Overview
Tirohanga whānui
Lake Ngā Roto is a 10 minute drive from Te Awamutu or Pirongia. The lake has great cultural and conservation significance. In the past there was a second lake alongside Lake Ngā Roto. The wetlands and the forests that once grew around them provided homes to the tūpuna (Māori ancestors), as well as many native species. Journey with us around the lakeshore and view the site of the Battle of Hingakākā – which involved numerous warriors drawn from many tribes across the North Island.
