Haere ki Te Whare Taonga o Te Awamutu
A great place to start your journey or visit afterwards to learn more about the stories told in the tour, Te Awamutu Museum showcases the rich social history of Waipā.
Our Tangata Whenua gallery shares the stories of the Tainui people, the indigenous peoples of this land, and the development of the landscape during pioneering times. A major topic explored by the Museum is the New Zealand Land Wars in the Waipā and Waikato regions. The Museum cares for over 20,000 objects, including a significant archives collection, accessible through the Research Service. As well as vibrant exhibitions and events, the Museum runs a busy education service for schools.
